What? I know the song, I have it on my ipod. I just don't see how the attempted attack in Detroit has anything to do with it? Where on earth did you get that idea from?

I find there to be nothing in common between the two with the exception of the feeling that some people on the plane may have had. To me the song is about a person that fears the plane that they are on may crash.

I dont think so. If that was recent; they wrote the song a few years ago I think. Dave talked about just writting alot of songs on one of thier tours, because they stopped sound checking the songs they already knew,,,and Wheels was one of them. I really doubt it...I dont even think the song had anything to do with aeroplanes, except metaphorically.

You will need to check it out with your travel agent. Air New Zealand flies from both San Francisco and LA to Auckland, so whichever is easiest to get to from Detroit would be your best bet. From Auckland to Wellington is a 50 minute flight, so that's the easy part. I live in sight of Wellington airport.

My partner is from the usa and travels regularly to new zealand. we have found the best and cheapest sites to get airfares from are www.cheaptickets.com and www.airgorilla.com He does this trip at least 5 times a year and its MUCH cheaper than going through a travel agent. average of $800-$1000 saving with booking online. I did a quick search and found from Mi to Wellington, flying with united within usa, and air new zealand for the international part, for $1900 including taxes, round trip.

Air Tran has excellent deals from Atlanta to Flint, MI.. if you dont mind going to flint which is about half hour north of the Detroit Metro Airport. Spirit Airlines, delta and Northwest also are great... try, travelocity.com, lowestfare.com, cheapfares.com, orbitz.com, hotwire.com

www.sidestep.com This searches a lot of published fares - even on Orbitz, etc, and links you to the best deal. For the dates you're looking at, the cheapest is into LaGuardia for $253 on AirTran. Changing your flying days to Tuesdays or Wednesdays cuts the price by about $50 a ticket - making it $205 roundtrip into Westchester airport.

You might try Travelocity or Priceonline and see what they have to offer. I don't think that there are any for a round trip for $200 a person, not with the price wars going on between the airlines.

You have to pick the dates. Tues Wed and Thurs flight are usually cheaper. And two week advance is usually cheaper. I would call Northwest. Southwest has online specials for $99 per person each way but with fees and taxes etc... probably more like $230 per person. But they fly to long Island so then you have to get to NY US Airway about $235 Northwest is a hub in detroit $218

Definitely go with Spirit Airlines. I just booked a flight from Detroit to New York in September for $23 round trip! Their sale fares are usually published on Tuesday at 3pm, and last 1 day. They also have a $24 off any flight sale every Thursday. Sometimes on Fridays they have Red Light Specials as well. I'm sure you'll get a better deal if you wait until September, but if you must go in August, I wouldn't pay over $175 per person. Tip - Never book a flight on Fri., Sat, Sun., or Mon., you'll always pay more. Book the flight on Tue., Wed., or Thur., and I guarantee you'll pay significantly less. Hope this helps.

i know it's really not that long, it's about 3 hours in total-honestly, though, i'm really worried about this plane ride.i'm 15, and i've only rode a plane once but that was with my brother like 4 years ago. i don't remember it, and now i'm going alone. i have a laptop, and an ipod, but, can i just get some reassuring that i'm not going to die a horrible death on this plane, ahahahah, and something else to do?

Checking: www.TravelConnectionsLLC.Com I found the shortest non-stop flight is 7 hours and 40 minutes, and the longest is 8 hours and 5 minutes. The actual time could be more or less depending on the wind direction and speed. Keep in mind the local time zones, loosing 6 hours going and gaining 6 hours returning. Incidentally, I looked at flights more than 30 days out, departing on Jan 27, 2009, and returning on Feb 3, 2009, and the lowest price including taxes was $733.
