As long as everything is on time. I had problems more than once and missed connecting flights.

Probably, if you don't have to travel from a domestic terminal to the international terminal. They have a north terminal plus separate concourses A, B & C. You'll have to check see where your arrival gate is and where your departure gate is. You can call your airline for that info.

Yes, since you don't have any luggage, then that is sufficient time.

check in online before you go and then you can go straight to boarding gate,

Yes I'd say so!

It should be enough. For a low cost airline or for a person which has checked-in luggage, I would say no, but in your case, I would go for it.

Yes you should be fine. The key is to not be intimidated by Concourse A. It's over a mile long and has 78 gates. There is an overhead monorail-type train with three stops, two on either end of the concourse and one in the middle. The concourse itself is amazing and it's easy to navigate because basically everything is in a straight line. Even if you arrive on Concourse C (in general where Delta Connection regional jets come in), you should be okay for a 50-minute connection. The key there is to not be distracted by the underground tunnel that leads to Concourse A. It has a light-changing pattern and is set to music, people just stop and watch and take pictures. Edit: Engineer apparently is unaware that Delta now flies Detroit-Nagoya nonstop.

If you talk to a Delta employee they will says that 30 minutes is the minimum legal (yes, legal) connection time at any airport with any airline. It will be slightly tight because you will most likely be connecting in Tokyo Narita NRT and that is a hub fro Delta so they have many flights and many gates there. I had a 50 minutes connection in Atlanta ATL (Delta's biggest hub) and it was slightly tight but it was fine. Just walk slightly quicker than you would normally do. You should have no problem at all. I hope your trip goes well.
