How was this terrorist able to board the Delta flight to Detroit

How was this terrorist able to board the Delta flight to Detroit?
His father advised the Embassy that he was associated with a terror group. He was on a watch list. He bought a one way ticket with cash. How is it that these signs were ignored? Is it a case of not wanting to profile Muslims? Is it similar to all of the known warning signs of the murderer Maj. Hasan in Texas? Were people afraid to challenge these people for fear of accusations of profiling? Do you think it is time to start getting tough on the individual groups known to be involved in terrorist activities? And lastly is it proof that this administration has no clue or desire to protect Americans? What do you think?

That reads like a rant! If you are serious about the answer to all your questions (too many in one posting), log on to the BBC World Service. They have all the answers/info to your questions.

1) Signs were ignored by not having technology tied into all possible outlets. 2) PC possibly, yes! 3) I would think different since Maj Hasan is an American, and this incident started two flight countries out. 4) Same answer as 2 5) He!! YES! 6) They have clues on how to protect, I would hope they have the desire to protect Americans. Nigeria was given several scanners by this country for this purpose.

Because Americans seem to believe that we are immune to terrorist attacks. The fact that there have been two attacks in about as many months means nothing. Political correctness is far more important that public security.

Seeing that this was a security breech that happened in Nigeria... it is somewhat unlikely that the present administration had much to do with it in the least.... Also, interesting that you bring up Maj Hasan... for he was listed on a Homeland Security Advisors listing from 2008 during the administration of GW Bush (Jr)...(well before the Obama administration)...regardless of the fact that he had already been "investigated" for having radical views.... hmmmmmm The current Political Correctness 'thing'... is something that sweeps across all party lines...and, is something that is definitely going to have to be addressed with considerably more attention in the very near future... because we, as a nation, are risking some extremely serious problems in no time at all... if we continue to shy away from calling it the way that it is playing out..... For we are now witnessing our allowances of almost any marginal faction....undue leverage within our system and seeing our nation's "freedoms" ...being used as a tool against us... This simply HAS to change !! รข˜¼ ////

Like us conservatives KEEP telling you libbies, Americans have way too many Civil Liberties. Get rid of Civil Liberties/Bill of Rights and the terrorism will go bye bye.

How the accused, who had a valid US travel visa, boarded a flight in Lagos to Amsterdam, despite being on a database listing individuals of concern to the authorities, is a key question . Anti-terrorist measures in Nigeria's airports are haphazard and corruption among police, customs and security officials is endemic,.. Officials in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity, told news agencies that Mr Abdulmutallab's name had been added to a security watch-list of more than half a million individuals, known as Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (Tide). But there was apparently not enough information to include his name on the smaller Terrorist Screening Data Base, which includes a no-fly list. It is understood that members of Mr Abdulmutallab's family are travelling to the Nigerian capital Abuja on Sunday to meet police and government officials It was his father that went to the US embassy in London to alert them of his fears about his sons radical views..But it looks as if no action was taken. This is a very serious problem with all nations at this point in time.I do feel there must be more security for those of us that fly constantly on business, and for countries that want Americans as tourists. And yes terrorism is the business of our government. They must protect our citizens from Terrorist attacks .

because our security system failed. Didn't work. Ever since Obama was elected, our security people are afraid they will be accused of acting 'Stupidly' and profiling someone. First Ft Hood, now this. Are we going to have to impeach the man to make us secure?

After listening to Janet Napolitano this morning, this nation needs to stick there head in the sand and pray for lock jaw. This incompetent piece of Obama scum, has no more of clue what day it is let alone what is going on in the security industry. She makes Mikey Chertoff look like Einstein and he was a brain dead career government spook. We have got to start putting cabinet members in place that can at least spell the division they are alledgedly running.
