No, although Glasgow Prestwick is an international airport, there are no direct flights from Detroit. They all have one stop. Going on Northwest, you will have to connect in Amsterdam. You could try departing out of Toronto (Pearson International) or flying into Manchester. In fact, Detroit to Manchester (UK) is about $150 less than the other options. There are regional buses and trains that would get you up to Scotland. It's a beautiful place!

No for the most part there are no international flights that originate from Detroit without any layovers with the exception of a trip to Canada which honestly is easier to drive to.
