How can I get the cheapest flights to Phoenix from Detroit

How can I get the cheapest flights to Phoenix from Detroit?
My friends and I want to go to Phoenix, Arizona on either Christmas break or after school ends at the beginning of June (even though it would be very hot). When could we get the cheapest flights from Detroit, Michigan? I was hoping to find a flight for under $300 round trip. If we can't find a flight for under that, where else do you suggest we could go that we could fly to inexpensively, besides Las Vegas? Thanks!

Another Amsterdam - Detroit flight problem

Another Amsterdam - Detroit flight problem?
NY Times: Incident Reported on Another Amsterdam-to-Detroit Flight The pilots of Northwest Airlines Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit -- the same flight involved in Friday's terrorism attempt -- requested emergency assistance Sunday upon landing in Detroit, Scott Wintner, an airport spokesman said. Police vehicles met the plane at the far end of the airport, and five buses drove up to the plane, in a repeat of the same scene that occurred on Friday. Mr. Wintner said he did not yet know what the emergency was, and said it could be anything from an ill passenger to a mechanical problem. "It's a pretty typical response," he said of the police vehicles. "With an aircraft situation, speed is of the essence." Mr. Wintner said airport officials were on their way to the scene. Anyone know what the emergency was? . . Thanks Levon. Interesting that this one is Nigerian too. We shouldn't focus on people from Nigeria though. Most of them aren't terrorists and would be offended. LOL

They are importing Nigeria's finest into the country, I see. Hopefully they are up for a few rounds of Golf. I don't know if we'll be able to visit with one another, otherwise.

I just heard about this and I feel like the fiddlers are playing while our city burns. Weird. Anyway, I heard them saying that someone barricaded themselves in a bathroom? I have no idea what could be happening but believe this... they are coming after us now. They are going to come after us here in America again now that Obama all but surrendered and we decided to start trying them in criminal court. We are basically committing suicide as a country. Isn't it so lovely? I think I'm going to be sick now.

The pilots' union should go on strike until muslims are banned from flying.
4 :
Hey, they all want nice beds in an American "supermax" prison. Free food, cable, computers, religious freedom, etc.......better than a tent in Nigeria. **Whoa, I never thought about the bathroom being used.....now THAT is scary!!!
5 :
Alot of people probably puked and they had to clean the carpets. It was a success. Thanks for the article, Levon, It is possible the guy who locked himself in the bathroom flipped out or completely panicked knowing the reputation of the lunatics who do attach explosives and stuff to themselves.

DETROIT (AP) -- A passenger onboard the same Northwest Airlines flight that was attacked on Christmas Day was taken into custody in Detroit on Sunday after becoming verbally disruptive upon landing, officials said. A law enforcement official said the man was Nigerian and had locked himself in the airliner's bathroom. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing. Delta Air Lines spokeswoman Susan Elliott said crew members requested that security remove the man from Flight 253 after he became disruptive. The remaining 255 passengers got off safely, she said. Airport spokesman Scott Wintner said it was the same flight on which a man tried to set off an explosive on Christmas Day. "The pilot requested emergency assistance upon arrival," he said. Security and airline personnel are on edge since the attempted terror attack on Christmas Day, and the law enforcement official said that lesser incidents had been reported on other flights arriving in Detroit, but the incident with the Nigerian man had sparked the most concern.

I'm sorry but Twin Girls Baby Boy made me laugh. There's something from "an ill passenger to a mechanical problem," and that's her response? Terrorists wouldn't be stupid enough to commit a second attack, after a failed attempt, with increased security, on the same route as was taken by the original terrorist. Edit: Oh no, it's not an ill passenger or a mechanical problem. It's a person being "verbally disruptive." Oooooh, scary.... Has Twin Girls Baby Boy come back from being sick yet?

On a flight with multiple stops, can I skip the first flight and get on the second

On a flight with multiple stops, can I skip the first flight and get on the second?
I was recently sent an airline ticket that goes from Flint, MI to Detroit, MI to Washington, D.C. - which sounds awesome, especially since I didn't pay for it or book it. The problem? I live in Detroit. Flint is an hour and a half away. So, I was wondering, could I skip the Flint to Detroit flight and just get on at DTW? Your answers are appreciated.

Call the airline.
2 :
No, you cannot -- as soon as you fail to show up for the FNT-DTW segment, the remainder of the ticket automatically cancels. Calling the airline and asking them to change it will require the entire ticket to be re-issued, which will require you to pay the applicable fare difference and change fee for the change.
3 :
No. When you don't get on the flight in Flint, the rest of the reservation will be canceled and your ticket worthless.
4 :
As soon as you are a "no-show" at the start of the itinerary, the rest is cancelled! Yes, cancelled. And most likely: LOST! Unless you cancel in-advance.
5 :
You need to contact your airline to change ticket if that's possible.( sometimes not as cheap ticket non-refundable ) When changing flights there is always a charge - sometimes a very expensive charge. Do not turn up at Detroit without speaking to airline first all your ticket could be invalid for the whole journey.
6 :
No, as soon as you do not board the aircraft in Flint, the entire flight reservation to include any return flights are automatically cancelled. This is not an airline rule, this is Federal Law.

Instead of wasting time here, why not go to an airline website and ask them?
2 :
I couldn't tell you the exact price, but from experience, Expedia.com offers some of the best rates ANYWHERE! Another helpful hint: You get the cheapest airfare if you buy a ticket for either a Tuesday or Thursday departure. =)

close to 4hrs. including taxi time at both airports.
2 :
The scheduled non-stop flight time from Detroit Metropolitan Int'l airport (DTW) to Las Vegas McCarren Int'l airport (LAS) will depend on your choices of airlines. Flight duration will vary from 4h 25min to 4h 32min. - Northwest Airlines has 4 daily non-stop flights with flight times of 4h 26min to 4h 32min. - US Airways 2 daily non-stop flights with flight time of 4h 25min and 4h 28min. - Spirit Airlines also has 2 daily non-stop flights with flight time of 4h 25min and 4h 26min. The actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies.
3 :
If it's a nonstop flight than approximately 4 and a half hours.
4 :
if non stop, it should take about 4hrs

You might have better luck looking for two separate flights. No doubt you can find a cheap one to London. Then you can find a cheap one from London to Oslo

try this site for cheap tickets http://asianairfares.com also try to book on the weekdays instead on the weekends.....it is cheaper

This of course depends on when you want to fly. I found the following options for well under $1000 flying roundtrip mid-week in February (I chose dates at random and ended up with Wed 18 Feb / Tue 3 Mar): Continental (via Newark)... $783 Northwest (via Amsterdam)... $841 KLM (via Amsterdam)... $844 Lufthansa (via Frankfurt)... $847 Air France (via Paris)... $916 SAS (via Chicago & Copenhagen)... $964 [taxes/fees included, all listed on Orbitz] Unfortunately, if you want to fly on a weekend in September, it looks like $1008 is probably the best price you're going to find: $1008 roundtrip on Lufthansa/SAS flying Fri 19 Sep and returning Sun 28 Sep, connecting in Frankfurt: LH487, SK3644 / SK4755, LH 486 listed on Vayama. Another option you might consider is using a flexible search to find cheap flights to one of the European gateway cities (esp. London or Frankfurt) and then using http://www.skyscanner.net to search the European low-cost airlines (i.e. RyanAir, Sterling, Norwegian, etc) to find an inexpensive connection to Oslo. Just keep in mind that the discount airlines often have very low baggage limits and you may have to switch airports, since the low-cost airlines usually fly to a city's smaller airports. (FYI - Sterling and Norwegian fly to OSL, but RyanAir flies to Torp, which is a 2-hour bus ride from Oslo.)
