How is Detroit's airport?
I want to fly my mom from Illinois out to California and the connecting flight is in Detroit. I've heard a lot of negative things about Detroit but never actually been there. Would she be safe there for that short time? Is the airport clean? I would really appreciate feedback from anyone who has actually been there before! Thanks in advance!! =)

Every airport is safe, with the exception of third-world nations. The negativity you hear about Detroit, is unfortunately the city. Detroit-Wayne is antiseptically clean.
2 :
very nice airport especially you take Northwest( now delta) terminal, big with a lot good shopping and restaurants, easy to connect every terminal though train in 3 min , very safe too.
3 :
The airport is nice. It's about 30 miles outside of the city, so you shouldn't have to worry about any gang activity.

If it's just a connecting flight then your mom is fine. Detroit's airport is one of the best; clean, well laid out, good access, and a lot of helpful security. And it is about 10-15 miles from the bad part of town. It's one of the few airports I enjoy.

Hi, I can assure you security is tight at Detroit Metro and your mom will be safe. There are alot of negative steriotypes about Detroit but the airport itself features two new modern and very well cleaned facilitys. In fact the new North terminal is rated as one of the cleanest airport terminals in the world. It isn't at all like the old Smith terminal that was infamous for being grimey, conjested and a nightmare. Fear not DTW is actually now my favorite place that I fly.

TSA is the best one to ask to be sure and here's their contact form for passenger/traveler questions : https://contact.tsa.dhs.gov/DynaForm.aspx?FormID=60 I've traveled and used this to ask them similar things and they always get back to me within a few days.

I've recently traveled with my R4 and had no problems. They do not question it as it's just another cartridge. http://www.wiilovemario.com/R4DS-Guide

A little over four hours.
2 :
Flight duration from Los Angeles (LAX) to Detroit Wayne County airport (DTW) non-stop will depend on which Northwest Airlines flight you choose. Northwest has 5 daily flights with NW326 having the shortest flight time of 4 hours and 15 minutes. Other Northwest flight varies from 4:17 to 4:25 hours. Spirit Airlines has one daily flight (NK 709) with a flight time of 4 hours and 20 minutes. Of course, the actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. However, with the help from the jetstream, the aircraft may arrive earlier than published schedule.
3 :
around 4&1/2 hrs. if non stop.

Can I book a non direct flight that has a connect stop to my peferred desination?
I want to book a flight from philly to detroit, the cost is $200 dollars but there are flights that go from philly to charlotte that stop in detroit for $130. Could i book the flight instead and just not take the flights to charlotte? would they let me get on in detroit during my return flight even though i wasn't on the flight that went from charlotte to detroit?

If its a round trip ticket, you will have problems. They will cancel the rest your ticket when you dont show up for your connecting flight. This only works on 1 way trips when you are not checking bags also.
2 :
Yes, that would work OK outbound (with no checked bag.) No, that wouldn't work on the return.
3 :
Your return trip will be canceled if you do this.

Hi from France Just check out the website of the company you want to use for to go over there !!.. There are all informations there : how long, prices etc... Have a nice day, Cat.
2 :
The flight hours depends on where you are connecting, how many stops and aircraft changes you are going to make, and how long are your ground stops along the way. However, it is roughly between 20 to 23 hours, depending on the above. Pls. note that because you are crossing the International date Line, you are gaining a day. So if you leave the Philippines on say, the 23rd of June, you will be arriving in Detroit on the 23rd of June also.
