Can someone check in luggage for a flight if they are not going on that flight?
Say for example my child flew out from here (Phoenix) and went to Detroit but he left his blankie behind in the car. Can I put it in a suitcase and send it on the next flight to Detroit where he and Daddy can pick it up on the baggage carousel?

No, you can ship it cargo, but I would think you could do it Federal Express. I know how important a blankie is, but the kid might have to wait a day

No, sorry but you can't do it. You can send it overnight Federal Express, though. Pack it in a large envelope and it will get there the next morning. Airlines require a check-in of a person in order to check in the luggage for safety reasons.

no Luggage has to stay with the person it belongs too. its a safety issue. if a plane is at a gate about to leave and someones luggage is below decks but the person hasnt checked into the gate area to board the flight then the luggage will be takin off and they will look for the person who it belongs to in case there is something dangerous in the suitcase

Due to safety reasons, that is not possible. It would be better to send it with Fed Ex or UPS

Call the airline and ask them with security at the airports it may not be allowed
