Honestly, you just have to keep on searching... I am going to give you the only piece of advice that was given to me for finding cheap travel deals, and it works to this day... Compare as many travel websites as you can as often as you can. Since you have a few months, start searching today and search the flights every week until the month before you are going. If anything is unusually cheaper, book it on that date. I would definitely recommend checking out BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites from one location, and save tons of money. Good luck!

Hate to say it, but you are probably too late to get a better price. If you can change the dates, you will find less expensive tickets. If you go to http://www.kayak.com , put in the airports and the dates, then, after it finishes the search, there will be a link "Show Fare Charts" on the upper left side of the page. Click on that to see the price history and projections for that city combination. That can be helpful in selecting travel dates that give you a better price.

No way. If you could pospone your trip, then you can get a better price. You still have less than a week and how can you get a cheaper one. If you want to fly definetely on the above dates, then do not waste any more time and immediately book the cheapest available. As dates will near the flying date, the tickets will become more and more expensive. You can check at www.edreams.com

I am searching Orbitz.com, and the cheapest I found for 1 adult on your travel dates to Honolulu is $980 with 1 stop on Delta Airlines to Phoenix, and then Hawaiian Airlines to Honolulu. I am afraid you won't get a cheaper price than that. Book now.

Connecting International Flight: Detroit (DTW)

Connecting International Flight: Detroit (DTW)?
I'm going to be buying tickets to Paris here shortly and am in a slight predicament. I will be flying from Omaha, NE (OMA) to Detroit, MI (DTW) on May 9th and have narrowed down the flights to choose from to two. One of the flights has a 4h 49m layover in DTW which would be okay, but is a little on the long side for me. The other flight has a 1h 10m layover and I'm worried that it might be too short, do to the fact that my connecting flight is an International flight. Would I be safe with the shorter layover? Or should I go with the longer one?

I personally would go for the longer layover. A layover with only 1hr 10 min, it doesn't take much for you to misconnect to your International flight. I personally would rather play it safe. Bring some good books, an ipod, laptop computer if you have one, puzzle books...to keep you occupied on the flights, and on the layover.
2 :
Definitely go with the longer one. If you're flying Northwest, they have a huge new terminal at DTW, and it offers plenty of things to do during a layover. Like the other person said, an hour and ten minutes isn't long enough. If your flight out of Omaha is delayed, you'll have even less time to make your connection. It's a long trip. You might as well make it as enjoyable as you can.

I'd go with the longer connection just to be safe. Assuming your flight is on time, a 1h10min. connection is probably enough time (although cutting it close). You'll probably be on a smaller plane from Omaha to DTW so it won't take you long to get off the plane. However, DTW is a big airport, and although it's one of the best major airports I've been to, it's still big. So even if your flight from Omaha is delayed by only 10 or 15 minutes, you could be in trouble, especially since you will probably have to change terminals. So I would go for the longer one just to be safe. DTW is great for a major airport though, and there's plenty of stuff there.

$383. United and Lufthansa have had good sale fares to Germany this winter, and Lufthansa will soon end it's service to Detroit, so this is sort of a "close-out" fare I guess, and other airines usually match prices on competing routes. I see $383rt total on Delta if you book it from Priceline using Feb28-Mar11. http://www.priceline.com Priceline now shows you a fare and details up-front, and does not add booking fees.
