What happens if I miss a flight connection cuz the immigration controls are slow

What happens if I miss a flight connection cuz the immigration controls are slow?
Hello, I'll fly from Rome to Houston with a stop in Detroit (1h53min). I heard in Detroit I have to take my luggage go to immigration and then check in... I think the time isn't enough even the flight won't be delayed, cuz the controls take a long time very often. I'm flying with KLM/Northwest. If I miss the flight from Detroit to Houston what happens? They put me on the next plane? For free? Thx

They probably will. And nearly two hours should be plenty of enough time to get through US customs and immigration.

What is the earliest time to have a flight from San Juan if my cruise arrives at 7:00 AM

What is the earliest time to have a flight from San Juan if my cruise arrives at 7:00 AM?
Best price I have found for flights leaves at 9:51 AM. It would be a domestic flight to Detroit. Best price I have found for flights leaves at 9:51 AM. It would be a domestic flight to Detroit. I've never been on a cruise before.

That is NOT a good time. Even though your ship arrives at 7am, you never know if it will arrive on time. Then you have to get your luggage in a sea of luggage, then go through customs, then to your flight. You really need to book your flight at the earliest after 1pm. Another option is to stay an extra day in San Juan and then book a early flight if you can get a cheap price.

Even though the cruise docks at 7am, you should not schedule a flight out until after 12 noon at the earliest.

Well, I do not suggest you book a flight so early. I would book something like 11:30am or after. You should still handle your own luggage. Its easier, faster and no waiting or searching. Hope I helped!

If you have already booked, It can be done, but it's tight. When you board talk to the Purser, explain what you have done and ask to get off the ship first. You will get special tags for your luggage and you will go through customs first. Then get a taxi to the airport. It's not a long drive. This is fairly common and the cruise lines are use to it,,,,BUT everyone else is correct always book your fight after lunch. It costs a little more but you really don't want to finish you cruise with all this extra panic trying to make your flight. The airlines know what time your ship arrives, and they know people book the later flight so they can relax, that's why it is more money.

I wouldn't chance that flight time at San Juan, from what I've read. I wouldn't even chance that in any port. Usually not a good idea to book a flight before Noon, even at an "easy" port - and San Juan is supposedly one of the worst, especially when cruise ships arrive and especially on a weekend. The ship may arrive late, there may be customs issues that prevent immediate debarking, you may not be one of the first people off the ship, may have traffic getting to the airport, may have long security lines at the airport, etc., etc. Make a reservation for a later flight. If you get to the airport early, you may be able to get on an earlier flight [good idea to know what flights are going to your destination before you go], although these days the flights are so full, that may be wishful thinking! If you want to read more about other cruisers' experiences, go to CruiseCritic.com. Click on "Boards", then go to the departures board for San Juan.

You are on an A 330 Here is a seatmap It also includes a description of the food and entertainment http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Lufthansa/Lufthansa_Airbus_A333_A.php
2 :
Unless Lufthansa only flies one kind of plane, it depends on the day and departure time. The airline web sites usually list the specific equipment type for each flight. However ---- things change all the time, and you could easily find yourself on some other kind of plane. Don't get too hung up on the exact type; it may not be that kind anyway.

Eight and a half hours.

About 10 hours, longer if you have to change planes in New York. But it's worth it, "Roma e' fantastica." 3 must-do restaurants in Rome: (By the way: Italians eat late and usually dress up a little: coat and tie and slacks for men, dress and shawl or jacket for women... lots of people-watching in Italy, where they highly value "la bella figura.") "Rei Degli Amici" a few blocks below the Spanish Steps (Piazza d'Spagna). Good menu plus a buffet-style antipasto and art covers--COVERS-- not just all the walls but the ceilings, too. "Harry's Bar" near the top of The Spanish Steps... not to eat, just to have a Bellini (delizioso !!) " IL Piperno".. It's at "Monte de Cenci 9"... ask a taxi driver, it's not on a main street but it is VERY good, a little pricey. It's been there since 1860, so that attests to its goodness, since Italians do NOT tolerate bad food! And don't skip The Pantheon and the Piazza Navona and its incredible fountain (by Bernini, if I recall correctly).... have a gelato there

Well for one thing, it would be MUCH longer than 8 and a half hours if it was direct. JFK (New York) to CDG (Paris) is 7h50, and to Rome is well over 9h20 =] So to Detroit would be even longer, approximately ten hours. However, there aren't any direct flights from Detroit to Rome, so you'd have to make a connection. Delta connects in Atlanta or New York, Air France in Paris, KLM in Amsterdam, Continental in Newark, Lufthansa in Frankfurt, US Air in Philadelphia =] So you've got many choices. With a comfortable layover, you're looking at about 13-14 hours of travel time. Hope this helps!

If you were to get a direct flight it would be approx. 8 Hrs 35 Min. You can get flight times for airports all over the world at https://www.jets.com/
