As of right now I'm the only person who's going to be on a flight from Monterrey to Detroit on a CRJ900, it's a pretty small plane. I'm 15 and flying alone for the first time so if I'm the only person on the flight will they cancel it? How long will it be canceled? What if no one else get on the flight? Will they still fly me to Detroit?

Probably yes. however, they won't cancel the flight until maybe the day before you depart. However, they may still fly the route because that aircraft needs to be in Detroit to fly out from there.

Wow a 3.5 hour flight on a CR9! Thats horrible. Although, Delta's CR9s are some of the most comfortable of the US Carriers, so It's not too bad. There may be many other passengers on your flight, they just do not have seat assignments yet, this is pretty typical when people buy tickets through discount websites. This flight only occurs once a day, and chances are there are another passengers on your flight. With no back up options, I say the chances are pretty good that it will not cancel unless other factors come into play like weather. Your flight appears to go our pretty regularly with about a 50% load. Should make for a very comfortable ride, you will probably have an empty seat.

I was looking at flights from Detroit to Salt Lake City, and I expected them to be in the $300-$400 range like they normally are. But the price for a round trip non-stop flight in mid April 2009 was $170. I was shocked, because that is less than half the price of what they are normally! Why are these flights so cheap, and do you think they will go up in price as April gets closer? Thanks.

According to the website below--vacation.away.com--there are no airports in Manhattan. You would have to travel to one nearby. The link shows you some of the closest. A non-stop flight from LGA (La Guardia Airport in New York City) to DTW (Detroit Metro Airport in Detroit) is just under two hours; the same non-stop flight is about an hour and forty-five minutes in the opposite direction.

I'd be on a non-stop flight from Detroit to Ft. Lauderdale. I'd have a valid carry permit. Could I put my pistol, spare ammo and magazines, and holster in a suitcase which I'd check in? Also, would I be allowed to remove the gun and holster from the bag once I arrived at the FLL airport, or would I have to wait until I got off the property? I've been led to believe that Florida does honor Michigan carry permits. Is this valid, or BS?

You must have the weapon locked in a lock box. I just asked at the airport about this last month. You would need to check with the authority's in Florida if your carry permit is even recognized there as most permits are are only good in the state issued.

Yes, read up on your airlines guidelines for transporting firearms. The gun must be unloaded (including the magazines), and the ammo must be in its original box (although I've regularly done so with plastic snap lid boxes, the regulations do not expressly allow this). The case must be locked with a TSA approved lock, Your ticket will usually be stamped with a "FFFFFF" along the top. I don't know about Ft. Lauderdale, but DTW has no restrictions against carrying firearms in the unsecured areas of the airport. In either case, I'd wait until I was off airport property. edit: yes, Your Michigan CPL is valid in most states, including Florida.

There are some specific details and procedures on exactly how to do this. For example: You cannot have the magazines loaded. The guys I know who wanted to carry as soon as they arrived at their destination usually used a bathroom that was outside of the security perimeter to arm up and kept it concealed. People fly with firearms in checked luggage all day long. There are rules. The firearm must be unloaded - I normally put a ty-wrap through the magazine well and out the slide ejection port - this way no idiot has to cycle my gun. 2. All ammo must be in original boxes. Loaded mags are a no-no - and plastic MTM cases are not legal eiether. 3. You can only have 50lbs of ammo per person. 11lbs of ammo per person when on military flights. 4. The fiearm must be in a hard case. You want to pull all the accessories from the hard case, install the ty-wrap or remove the bolt, and put the ammo in a different suitcase. Use TSA locks to lock it. The reason you pull all the accessories - laser, light, empty mags etc etc - the guy or gal who closes the case might not want to touch your stuff. So now you have a magazine rubbing against the barrel or stock of your gun for 1500 miles - it will be a scuff mark that won't buff out. Once you are at your destination airport - you can lock n' load once you are off the airport property. Wait until you are in the cab, the rental parking lot, or car. If you strap-up in the airport men's room - you can be arrested for having a pistol on airport property........ you might beat the rap, but, probably never see your gun again.

I fly into Panama City with my pistol all the time. You have to check the pistol separately in a locked hard case, and you have to arrive at the airport in Detroit with the case unlocked so that you and the TSA inspector can go over the contents. Then you lock it up and check it as a bag (and if you're checking more bags it will cost you per bag, of course, even though it's tiny). You can carry the ammo in the same package, I'm told, but I never pushed it. Ammo is cheap and plentiful in Florida. At your destination, the pistol will be separated from the rest of the bags and you'll have to claim it in person. This is usually done at the "lost bag" office. You may be able to strap up in the airport, but that's another area I have never bothered to push. I don't think it's necessary to be armed 100% of the time. Especially in Florida. It's the south, relax.

If the screening detects explosive materials other than those associated with ammunition, or if screeners can't determine the exact nature of the alarm, and if all means available (such as X-rays) cannot rule out the possible presence of explosives, TSA screeners, working with airline representatives, will make every effort to contact the passenger so that the passenger can supply the key or combination to open the case, eliminating the need to break locks. You can try spirit airlines. Usually, the best days to fly are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as the prices usually drop. On Tuesday afternoons (between 1pm and 3pm most weeks), the Spirit sales come out and sometimes they're as cheap as $9 to fly one way. The bad news about Spirit is that they do not offer complimentary drinks or snacks. The drinks will cost you $3 for water or soda and $4-$7 for wine and spirits and snacks can cost between $$ and $7, depending what they offer. A personal recommendation is to fly to Ft. Lauderdale and go to Miami for the day. That's usually about a 3 hour flight each way and you can take a train from Ft. Lauderdale Airport all the way to Miami. Also, try going to NYC as that's about a 2 hour flight from DTW and you can see central park, have lunch or even catch a broadway show. The cab ride can be quite expensive. Good luck in your search.

I'm going to Europe this summer, and I need to get on a connections flight from Detroit to Chicago, and then Chicago to Ireland. I live in Jonesboro and just flew in two weeks ago from Detroit. There is nothing closer, but it only took about 75 minutes to get to Jonesboro.

I'm not sure, sorry but you can call the airlines and ask them, if they just provide with TV you can do, its only 4 hours or so so you'll survive, don't worry. Just in case, bring something else entertainable like a magazine or a book, portable music players, maybe even a labtop if you need too.

I'm not quite sure, but I do know from the northern hemisphere to Australia it can take anywhere from 16-27 hours. Since Sydney is all the way on the east side of australia towards the bottom, and youre on the east of the US towards the top, I'd guess closer to the 27 hour mark.

Depends on which way you are flying. If you are going west then it is longer because the world is revolving west. If you go on an eastern flight the trip is shorter. I found this out when I went to Scotland from New Zealand ... the trip from NZ to Heathrow was longer than coming back. Why go to Australia ..... Try using priceline.com and try looking up different airports such as leaving from Flint, MI instead. I fly from MI to FL a lot, and priceline is usually the cheapest that I can find. Another airline that isn't advertised on those sights that is cheap is Allegiantair.com. They only fly to and from certain cities on certain days but it is worth a shot. (And they don't fly into major cities, they fly in and out of Lansing for example. Don't know what if any in Portland area.)

I guess you mean the barometric pressure? This has nothing to do with the min/max flight levels. The altimeter must be adjusted to the local pressure. This is information that the airplane receives from flight control. If the altimeter isn't calibrated it will show a wrong altitude. This is exactly what you can experience if you have a watch with built-in altitude meter. It must be calibrated every time you use it (set a reference altitude).

There are alot of negative steriotypes about Detroit but the airport itself features two new modern and very well cleaned facilitys. i found tickets that were $160.00 and with tax, its $190: http://www.cheaptickets.com/App/ViewFlightSearchResults?retrieveParams=true&z=5aad&r=1e&z=5aaf&r=1g&lastPage=interstitial ON NWA AIRLINES i checked all of the other airlines and travel search engines and this was the cheapest, others were also on NWA airlines and costed 1 or 2 dollars more!

so far the cheapest ive found is for $164 and includes taxes and fees departing on the 16th returning on 22nd through northwest airlines.. now i dont know if i would trust going on northwest since they've had so much trouble with canceling flights.. after a little more searching.. i found $159 including taxes and fees at NWA.com for the same dates as above

What happens if you miss a connecting flight because of a delay?
Example: My plane leaves Seattle, WA and lands in Detroit MI, where I'm supposed to take another plane from Detroit to Coumbus, OH. What if the airport at Seattle is delayed and the delay is so long that by the time I get to Detroit, the Detroit to Columbus flight has already left? Do I just have to go find a hotel room or something, even though it was the airline's fault I missed my plane? Just curious, I'm not actually IN the situation, it just occured to me :P Thanks!

Normally the airlines will book you on the next flight going to your destination. They can even book you on another airline. If there are no flights available the airlines will overnight you at a hotel and pay for your room and a meal. You would then leave out on the first flight the following day. This has happened to me, it was inconvenient, but not the end of the world.

Ah! I was in this situation flying from Melbourne, Australia to Toronto, Canada. Stopped in Sydney, Honolulu and Vancouver. Long story short - flight was delayed for five (very, very long) hours in Honolulu and was five hours late arriving in Vancouver hence.. I missed my plane to Toronto. Went to the Air Canada's service desk and they fixed it up then and there. No extra charges. Not they would have wanted too, either.. man was I angry! :P Hope that helps! :)

No, but if you did get sick from it that's really not so good. I'd complain and see what they would do. They would probably blame it on something else you ate. But if others on your flight also got ill you could be looking at a POSSIBLE discount on your next Delta flight. But I'd doubt it if it was only you. Regardless go to the doctor see if it is food poisoning than complain.

Hello. I know what you are talking about because when I fly and book tickets on KLM, I must fly with their partner DELTA, and it is always a bad experience. Compared to KLM, Delta does the following - they starve passengers - the food is barely fit for a human - the flight attendants are rude - they charge for the alcoholic drinks I love flying through Amsterdam, but if I must travel with Delta, it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make... I honesty believe that Delta is the worst airline in the United States. Continental is the best airline in the USA and their partners are also VERY GOOD ON INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS.
