Where do you think I can find a cheap flight in july for two weeks from orlando traveling to orlando. I'm 15 years old and I'm going to be flying alone but my parents don't want to pay for that person that watches you. What do you think is the cheapest fares I can get?

Hi, I am a former airline employee and can tell you that fares vary wildly depending on the dates you plan to travel. You can use http://www.kayak.com to check several web sites at one time if you know that dates that you want to go. Hope this helps. You can email me if you like via the email button here if you would like me to check for you. Flexible travel dates can also help you find lower fares if you don't have to travel on exact dates. Cheers, Jamie

book directly with the airline would be the cheapest. continental is your best bet.

When is it the best time to book a flight?
I am trying to book a flight to Detroit in the summer ... when and what site is the best to book a flight???
Air Travel - 5 Answers

1 :
The earlier the better. I say eat at 4, then have the plane leave at 5. its cheap and quiet. Plus, you can sleep! also, then when you get to Detroit you can do things the day you get there, but if you left at say 6 at night by the time you got there you couldn't do anything once you got there.
2 :
Everything I've read says to book at least 21 days in advance before your departure date to get the best rates but I always book within a month. I always use Yahoo Travel, Cheaptickets, and Hotwire and pick out the best ittenerary with the best price.
3 :
Ideally, you should book a flight a few months before a long haul flight or a few months/weeks before a short haul flight. im sorry i do not know anything about sites with airlines going to Detroit, and i dont know where you are flying from. From the UK you could try Luton or Gatwick
4 :
It depends on where you fly from. Northwest has a big presence in Detroit but I would first try Southwest Airlines or Spirit Airlines. Hopefully those 2 carriers fly from where you live or from an airport that is close to where you live. Just remember that summer is a time where it is more expensive to fly since students are out of school and that is when people start taking vacations.

With no lay-overs, an hour, maybe hour and a half maximum. I fly from Atlanta to Michigan regularly and that takes about an hour and 45 minutes.
2 :
For non-stop flights: Detroit to La Guardia (LGA) - 1 hour, 45 minutes Detroit to JFK - 1 hour, 55 minutes Detroit to Newark (EWR) - 1 hour, 45 minutes Note that times are slightly longer on the return trip as you are typically flying against the airstream (add about 10 minutes typically). Happy flying!

Is it okay to arrive One hour before the Flight Departs

Is it okay to arrive One hour before the Flight Departs?
I have a Domestic flight out of Detroit...but the day of the flight..I have somethings to take care off, and will not be able to arrive till an hour before my flight departs? Do you think that is sufficient time to clear checking and get to my Departing gate?
Air Travel - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It might be, if you hurry you will be ok
2 :
Yes! Domestic Flights say to arrive one hour early, and International Flights arrive two hours early before departure.
3 :
Depends on the airport and the time of day and the time of year. I live in LA and at LAX, late morning, peak season, fahgedaboudit, three hours minimum. But if you are leaving out of a smaller less crowded airport you might be ok. I love my local Burbank airport. If I arrive an hour early I am sitting at the gate for 40 minutes. There are things you can do to speed up the process. First, have somebody drop you off, parking and waiting for the shuttle eats up a lot of time. Next, no checked bags, that's a whole security line you don't have to wait in. Also, most airlines let you check in online, definitely do that. Then with boarding passes in hand, just go straight to the main security line, you MIGHT get through that in under an hour, if it's not too busy. Don't wear any metal, wear slip on shoes and don't have any liquids in the carry on. Good luck!
4 :
This link has a list of historic wait times at the DTW airport based on the time of day: http://www.ifly.com/detroit-metropolitian-airport/wait-times You can use those times to get a reasonable prediction of how long you will wait once you arrive at security. Also, take into account the walk from security to the gate, if you will take the shuttle or not, where you will park, if you can get dropped off, etc. DTW is pretty busy, and pretty big. It can take 15 minuets just to get from security to some of the gates. Also, if you are not at your gate 20 minutes before departure time, you can loose your seat, and lose your right to re-use the value of your ticket. This does not often happen, but if you are on a full flight, and it can leave early, they will board early and the door will be shut at the 20 minute mark. It has happened to me at DTW before. I would recommend checking in on-line and not checking a bag, but take warning that if you walk through the door 1 hour before departure, you could be cutting it very close.
5 :
no i don't think so! try to do what you gotta do the day before because you never know what you will be faced with long check in time. huge security line missing your flight!! i would rather be safe than sorry..

Is it an international flight if I have to go to Detroit before I go to Europe

Is it an international flight if I have to go to Detroit before I go to Europe?
It is the first stop on the plane trip and I am trying to figure out how long before the flight leaves I have to be at the airport. Two hours?
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
It is called an international flight because it travels to a different country. It doesn't matter if it isn't non stop.
2 :
If the first part of your journey operates as a domestic segment, then it is a domestic segment, not international. Just get there in plenty of time. Two hours is a good time frame.
3 :
Treat it like a domestic flight, as there is no reason to get to the airport that much earlier. But be on time though. if you miss a connection, you may have to wait 24 hours for the next flight.
4 :
If you're flying from anywhere in the US, the leg to Detroit will be a domestic flight. This assumes that you will be changing planes at DTW. Two hours would be a safe bet, depending upon the size of the airport you're leaving from. If you're not changing planes, it may be classified as international from your initial point of departure.

Just order it through a travel agent or the airline ticket agent. Payment will be the issue, really, more than age. If you have a debit card you could use that, or your parents card if they will let you use theirs. Or you could get a money order and go to a travel agent personally. Most airlines consider someone 17 an adult anyway. Good luck
2 :
ALL airlines in the U.S. allow kids 15 and over to fly as adults. Of, course, your parents should approve and know where you are going, but you do not need anything special to fly. Also, kids under 18 do not need I.D. to fly.

It's 'cause all the good deals are out of Detroit. At least, that's what I've seen in my experience.
3 :
The best deals I have ever found for vacations and flights etc. have been on www.travel.com. Better prices then the airlines themselves!
4 :
Because Northwest Airlines dominates the Detroit airport. They have very little competition there, so they have no need to offer 'bargin' fares.
5 :
can't answer that helpfully, CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE TRYING TO FLY IN FROM!!!!! I fly out of here 'cheaply' often enough, both domestically and internationally.
6 :
Because it certainly isn't a tourist destination like most other major cities. People fly to the Detroit area mostly for business or because they have family here.

You can see the Delta or Northwest website for this.
2 :
This should help- http://www.delta.com/skymiles/use_miles/award_upgrade_mileage/sm_award_mileage/index.jsp 25,000 is the minimum on certain dates- space available, more if you cant be flexible unless you have a delta credit card (then they give you the 20,000 mile awards at times).
3 :
You will have to contact NW witch is now Delta. Or go on their web site. I feel their air miles program is really not worth it. They have three levels of usage. Light, Medium and Heavy. The total number of air miles needed will be determined by them. I wanted to go to DC from Grand Rapids MI. American can do it fir 25K NW/Delta wanted 47K to 72K.......not a good deal........
4 :
If you are flying on non-blackout dates, the minimum miles to fly for free is 25,000 since it is a domestic flight. This would be a round-trip ticket.

The shortest route between Detroit and Tokyo does follow a northerly route, but it likely won't go that far north. The website linked below has a graphical representation of the shortest route between those airports, which suggests that the route would likely take you through northern Canada and Alaska, but it probably wouldn't go all the way to the North Pole.
2 :
Over the pole, no, but waaay north.

You don't go over the pole, buy you fly over Alaska and it is a very nice view.

Airlines fly to Vegas cheaper in the summer, due to the high temperatures there. Check Expedia, Gorilla Air and Cheap Tickets websites for fares and schedules.

Yahoo.com is always good. But also Vegas.com will make sure you get the lowest price on their hotels. You can also get airfares on there too. But one thing that is nice about Vegas.com is they sometimes give you a deal on eith the hotel or airfare if you book them together.

I have actually done a lot of research myself and found that NWA has the best flights from Detroit. They have the "Best Rate Guarantee" so you are supposed to not be able to find a better price then NWA.com has. You might want to try a travel agent, a lot of times they can get chartered flights which are cheaper, but you do have to pay them a fee!
9 :
Check out northwest airline and Spirit airline they are the cheapest. My airline ticket for July was $280 on Norhwest airline.
10 :
Try travelzoo, they have lots of discount ticket's great price's
11 :
I have yet to see anything cheap on Kayak.com I would check into Spirit Air. Detroiters are so lucky to have this budget airline available. Also, checkout Southwest/ATA though Southwest is terrible at treating the customer well.....but they have great flight rates.

How was this terrorist able to board the Delta flight to Detroit

How was this terrorist able to board the Delta flight to Detroit?
His father advised the Embassy that he was associated with a terror group. He was on a watch list. He bought a one way ticket with cash. How is it that these signs were ignored? Is it a case of not wanting to profile Muslims? Is it similar to all of the known warning signs of the murderer Maj. Hasan in Texas? Were people afraid to challenge these people for fear of accusations of profiling? Do you think it is time to start getting tough on the individual groups known to be involved in terrorist activities? And lastly is it proof that this administration has no clue or desire to protect Americans? What do you think?
Other - Politics & Government - 8 Answers

1 :
That reads like a rant! If you are serious about the answer to all your questions (too many in one posting), log on to the BBC World Service. They have all the answers/info to your questions.
2 :
1) Signs were ignored by not having technology tied into all possible outlets. 2) PC possibly, yes! 3) I would think different since Maj Hasan is an American, and this incident started two flight countries out. 4) Same answer as 2 5) He!! YES! 6) They have clues on how to protect, I would hope they have the desire to protect Americans. Nigeria was given several scanners by this country for this purpose.
3 :
Because Americans seem to believe that we are immune to terrorist attacks. The fact that there have been two attacks in about as many months means nothing. Political correctness is far more important that public security.
4 :
Seeing that this was a security breech that happened in Nigeria... it is somewhat unlikely that the present administration had much to do with it in the least.... Also, interesting that you bring up Maj Hasan... for he was listed on a Homeland Security Advisors listing from 2008 during the administration of GW Bush (Jr)...(well before the Obama administration)...regardless of the fact that he had already been "investigated" for having radical views.... hmmmmmm The current Political Correctness 'thing'... is something that sweeps across all party lines...and, is something that is definitely going to have to be addressed with considerably more attention in the very near future... because we, as a nation, are risking some extremely serious problems in no time at all... if we continue to shy away from calling it the way that it is playing out..... For we are now witnessing our allowances of almost any marginal faction....undue leverage within our system and seeing our nation's "freedoms" ...being used as a tool against us... This simply HAS to change !! ☼ ////
5 :
Like us conservatives KEEP telling you libbies, Americans have way too many Civil Liberties. Get rid of Civil Liberties/Bill of Rights and the terrorism will go bye bye.
6 :
How the accused, who had a valid US travel visa, boarded a flight in Lagos to Amsterdam, despite being on a database listing individuals of concern to the authorities, is a key question . Anti-terrorist measures in Nigeria's airports are haphazard and corruption among police, customs and security officials is endemic,.. Officials in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity, told news agencies that Mr Abdulmutallab's name had been added to a security watch-list of more than half a million individuals, known as Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (Tide). But there was apparently not enough information to include his name on the smaller Terrorist Screening Data Base, which includes a no-fly list. It is understood that members of Mr Abdulmutallab's family are travelling to the Nigerian capital Abuja on Sunday to meet police and government officials It was his father that went to the US embassy in London to alert them of his fears about his sons radical views..But it looks as if no action was taken. This is a very serious problem with all nations at this point in time.I do feel there must be more security for those of us that fly constantly on business, and for countries that want Americans as tourists. And yes terrorism is the business of our government. They must protect our citizens from Terrorist attacks .
7 :
because our security system failed. Didn't work. Ever since Obama was elected, our security people are afraid they will be accused of acting 'Stupidly' and profiling someone. First Ft Hood, now this. Are we going to have to impeach the man to make us secure?
8 :
After listening to Janet Napolitano this morning, this nation needs to stick there head in the sand and pray for lock jaw. This incompetent piece of Obama scum, has no more of clue what day it is let alone what is going on in the security industry. She makes Mikey Chertoff look like Einstein and he was a brain dead career government spook. We have got to start putting cabinet members in place that can at least spell the division they are alledgedly running.

I've booked that same flight a few times. As far as price?? It's been about a year, but I'm thinking you're going to be in the $300 range for roundtrip. I have found that it is cheaper sometimes to fly out of Greensboro, or Raleigh/Durham, but Raleigh is a little too far to drive. First go to Yahoo Travel and find the better deals and take note of them: Then Go directly to the airlines website: i.e. www.southwest.com or www.nwa.com so that you can avoid paying the extra fees that the agencies tack on. oh and if your final destination is North of Detroit (oakland or macomb counties) then you might consider flying into Flint, MI airport!! Good Luck!
2 :
Price line says that if you depart On July 1st and return on the 5th you will pay anywhere from 319-381.

When is Delta AIrlines going to start checking passports on Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit

When is Delta AIrlines going to start checking passports on Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit?
I had to read this twice to believe that a second Nigerian nutcase had turned up on the same flight in the same week. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/28/us/politics/w28talk.html

Actually, the Airline is only responsible to make sure that they can legally enter the US. Its the airport security in Amsterdam and Lagos (?) that would check the no-fly to US list (which he wasn't on).
2 :
I think airport security are the ones required to check all passengers and the airlines pay good money for that service. It would be wiser to check the security personal who have allowed these people aboard they may have a friend there.
3 :
They did check passports; the would-be-bomber wasn't on any no-fly list. My guess is that there are always several Nigerians on that flight, most average law abiding people, because that flight originates in Nigeria.

Anyone who can prevent catastrophe should be praised. Even those of us on here who are posting should be praising but of course this is the political section and it can not be seen that way, the responses only divide not unite. The purpose of this question is not constructive to the incident, it is just inflammatory when it should be about commendation.
2 :
I asked a question the other day about what stupid crap cons would jump on Obama for next. This was, apparently, it.
3 :
He's busy Golfing, get a White House aide to do it...
4 :
He wouldn't do that without first knowing how the guy voted.
5 :
That young guy should have free flight for the rest of his life! The President will recognize him, he's just in Hawaii right now.
6 :
I think yes.
7 :
no, because the guy who jumped that dude was drunk and he injured innocent passengers
8 :
Agree...but remember Obama is truly trash.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKzSDz-OpUU
9 :
A man prevents a possible terrorist attack, and it's...LOOK WHAT OBAMA DID, LOOK WHAT OBAMA DID!!!!
10 :
I suspect that Obama was not even given the name of the person or people that interfered with the terrorist plot. When he does, I am sure he will do something. And don't say that I am a Democratic lackey. I am not. I did not vote for Obama and I don't like the majority of his policies...but fair is fair.
11 :
He should have already done this. However if the heroic passenger was white and Republican I doubt you'll ever hear anything about it from him.
12 :
obama could have done what he did when he addressed the Ft Hood attack. he could have given Sutton a 'shout out' claiming a great meeting, a top priority, THEN he could have given some recognition the hero of this attack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYldhOp1p34 Napolitano claimed victory for this administration in stopping the attack. how incredible, the 'system' failed completely on all levels. wasn't they who even tried to give terrorist acts another term that was more in keeping with their view that there is no war on terror, just man made events. this is beyond ignorant and she made herself look ridiculous with her lie. http://www.politico.com/blogs/politicolive/1209/Napolitano_The_system_worked.html?showall# this attack showed how lame the system is and that we are still in the pre 9/11 mentality. i just saw a liberal being interview who said we don't know the facts and should not jump to conclusions, this may just be the act of a 'sick' individual. there are none so blind as will not see!
13 :
Yes, yes, and yes. This brave passenger has reminded us of the courage and resolve of us all. Obama doesn't like that. He wants us all to believe that the we need government to complete us. That we need government to make us brave. He is being torn apart in Hawaii right now, he thought he had killed the American spirit and replaced it with a faith in government. This heroic passenger just crapped all over that idea. It wasn't the government that stopped the terrorist, it was a hard nosed private citizen who said "I'm not gonna sit around and wait for Obama to help" and he tackled that terrorist. Obama is probably crying in his hotel room right now, angry that there is a new hero in town and people realize they don't need Obama to be all they can be. The government failed, and a private citizen stepped in and did a better job than all of them combined.
14 :
Yes he should get a medal of freedom , and deserves at least a "shout out" from 0bama
15 :
Of course he should but I haven't heard a word about it. Did he say anything or he is too busy golfing on our money.

Flying on Northwest from Detroit to Heathrow

Flying on Northwest from Detroit to Heathrow?
Has anyone flown this flight? I have never flown internationally and am curious on food, movies, etc. The flight leaves Detroit at 6;30 pm and arrives in London at 7 a.m. I know they encourage you to sleep, but what about movies, food service, etc? Do they charge for the movies? Any info would be of assistance. Thank you.

Northwest normally uses A330 aircraft on this route. The A330 has individual screens at each seat and a choice of movies, so you can decide what to watch. You can find a current list of movies on Northwest's website at this link: http://www.nwa.com/services/onboard/movies/pvs/ However, the list will change if you're not traveling for a few months. They still have food service on international flights at no extra charge. However, don't expect anything special. The meal will be small and possibly not very good. I frequently carry snacks in my carry-on bag just in case.
2 :
The NWA website has most of the info you are asking for: http://www.nwa.com/services/onboard/inflight_main.html Go to http://www.seatguru.com/ for seat selection suggestions. You need to know the exact model of the aircraft. Hope you have a great trip!

Where's the cheapeist website for flight to Europe from Detroit?

i asked that one too and got these links:
2 :
Bar none, the best is www.travade.com You have to make sure though you use the 'International Flight Search' button on the home page as opposed to the regular search engine. It is the little blue link on the home page and has the best International Fares. Also, if you keep the site open for long, you may have to type in the word 'travade' into a little box that will reset the site. Good Luck to you!
3 :
Keep in mind the time of year you are traveling or want to travel there. There are tourist seasons and you may get a better deal during off seasons. Prices fluctuate because of rising and falling fuel prices. Another tip: don't discount the possibility of taking a few flights. I once planned a trip to Paris taking a flight from Minneapolis to JFK, then another flight to Ireland before finally getting to Paris. It takes longer but gives the chance to experience a couple bonus places along the way and may save you money!
4 :
try www.amazingdiscountstravel.com
5 :
to cut through the deals, you should check out http://www.travelcuse.com to book your trip. the site is an aggregator which means it takes offers from various online sites and shows you the best deals. good luck!

6 :
I use expedia and like that. You might Air Trans.com They fly into both Detroit and Flint, but are not shown on Expedia. I like them, cause then I land in Flint, and I am on the N side of Detroit, so it's a lot easier to get to and has a very nice airport, not like Detroits huge megamonster terminal. Delta also goes to Flint. Just type Flint into your final destination and see who flies in.
7 :
Southwest website http://southwest.com/cgi-bin/buildItinerary2?hps=b1 they are pretty cheap. I've been traveling around U.S. and they always have the best deals. Try travel search engine http://www.mobissimo.com/search_airfare.php it searches several travel websites so you can save some time. But I've found Southwest to be the best - the cheapest for sure. Good luck!
8 :
www.intriguedtravel.com
9 :
expedia.com, or travelocity..check them out
10 :
I usually go to Orbitz first to see what they have to offer and through what airlines. Then I go to the actual airline to purchase the tickets. Usually saves 10 - 20 dollars and you can guarantee your flights. Good Luck!

This work's, I do it all the time!:) Go to Expedia.com
2 :
Unfortunately, ticket prices from the US to Europe skyrocket in the summer so "cheap tickets" should be a relative phrase for that time of year :( In any case, a good place to start might be www.kayak.com It searches all the major airline websites as well as many of the popular booking sites (orbitz, travelocity, expedia, etc) and lists prices from all those places for you in one window. Now, if the general prices of tickets turn out to be disappointing, and you don't mind shuffling around a bit, you could try finding a cheap ticket to London (Heathrow) and finding a cheap ticket from Ryanair.com to take you from London into Bremen. This would mean, taking a cab from Heathrow to a smaller airport in the London area, so use this option only if the ticket to Heathrow is cheap enough to make the extra effort worth it. Other British/Irish discount airlines include Monarch and Aer Lingus. Given the time of year you'll be travelling, you may just have to accept the fact that it's going to cost more than you hoped to get to Bremen. However, if you and your travel partners are flexible with your itinerary you could try getting a bit more bang for your buck. You could try flying into cities that are a little cheaper to get to, but slightly farther away--such as Berlin or Amsterdam--and enjoy a nice train ride into Bremen. Another potentially fun possibility could be to fly into Frankfurt via Iceland Air. Iceland Air has this great deal in which passengers on flights stopping in Iceland get a free stopover there (not layover--but a stopover, an "extended layover")...so if you're flexible and are up for an adventure, you could fly out of the US, visit Iceland for a day or two, resume flight to Frankfurt and take a train to Bremen...or visit Iceland on your way back to the US. However, I don't know if Iceland air flies out of Detroit, but perhaps there are similar ways for you to get more out of your money. Finally, if you or any of your travel buddies has frequent flier miles, this might be a good time to use them. Then, the three of you could agree to just split the cost of two tickets.
3 :
Detroit to New York New York to Rhein Mein Best to try Lufthansa...it's usually the cheapest and they'll contract your Detroit to New York with Southwest! Tickets are cheap and be prepared to drive in Germany or take the train. The train is the best way to go in Germany. It's so different then the US. Comfortable, cheap, and they speak english for us ugly Americans!
4 :
Try http://crush4travel.blogspot.com for cheapest flights as its search engine search over Top 400 travel sites for price comparison.

Just go to a site like dohop.com or bing.com - two of the best flight search websites for finding cheap international flights. Someone suggested Expedia - they will only show you a small subset of the available tickets.

Can someone check in luggage for a flight if they are not going on that flight

Can someone check in luggage for a flight if they are not going on that flight?
Say for example my child flew out from here (Phoenix) and went to Detroit but he left his blankie behind in the car. Can I put it in a suitcase and send it on the next flight to Detroit where he and Daddy can pick it up on the baggage carousel?

No, you can ship it cargo, but I would think you could do it Federal Express. I know how important a blankie is, but the kid might have to wait a day
2 :
No, sorry but you can't do it. You can send it overnight Federal Express, though. Pack it in a large envelope and it will get there the next morning. Airlines require a check-in of a person in order to check in the luggage for safety reasons.
3 :
no Luggage has to stay with the person it belongs too. its a safety issue. if a plane is at a gate about to leave and someones luggage is below decks but the person hasnt checked into the gate area to board the flight then the luggage will be takin off and they will look for the person who it belongs to in case there is something dangerous in the suitcase
4 :
Due to safety reasons, that is not possible. It would be better to send it with Fed Ex or UPS
5 :
Call the airline and ask them with security at the airports it may not be allowed

Requirements to connect a international flight in Detroit. US? Im Mexican?
I do have my Visa B2 (tourist visa) to get in the States without a problem, but Im not allowed to ask for a permit (CBP Form I-94 Arrival and Departure Records) in the next 2 years, does that mean I can't catch a connection flight in the U.S ? The CBP Declaration used for air and sea are different? Should I expect problems? What if they dont allow me to catch my connection flight? Means I have to get a flight ticket to come back home? Im traveling to London next week. Thanks for the answers.

as long as you stay in the international terminal, you should be OK. In essence, you do not enter the US, but are considered an "in transit" passenger. You must go thru passport control / immigration to enter the US. You do not want to do that. check luggage thru to London. Get boarding passes, etc. for trip from Detroit to London in Mexico.

Fly through Minneapolis if all things are equal.....just in case something happens with delays, cancellation, or whatever, Appleton (ATW) airport is only about 25 minutes away and there are several flights that go into Appleton as well as Green Bay....however, flying through Detroit, Delta's only option is Green Bay. I assume you are flying Northwest or Delta...If that's the case, I would go with the Northwest option as there are more "back up" options in case of a problem....(it is not uncommon for planes to land at the other airport and bus passengers between if there are weather problems, etc)
2 :
If you chose Delta, you are flying NW...and if you fly NW, you are on Delta. They are the same airline :) Chose the one with the least amount of layover. Unless you are there for 5 or 6 hours, the airport itself wont matter one bit. Most layovers are between 1hr or 2. So go through the one with the shortest layover :)

I'm looking at flight from Detroit to Tampa (possible computer error)?
I've been looking at flights from detroit to tampa for about a week or two now for the end of February. if you fly allot you might know that Detroit is big NWA now Delta hub. the prices have stuck around $229 for a nonstop, suddenly today it shot up to $550+ and thats for any one to Florida up through I've looked as far out as april. (and they all have connections in Atlanta) could this be a computer error or can they be getting rid of a route or WHAT I've been looking at the same flights for a few weeks, and all of the flights said Delta flight operated under Northwest and that has seemed to disappear. I've also looked at flights to Minneapolis another hub for NWA and it has a connection in Cincinnati for over (with tax and airport fees) $1000 and seriously there prices double competitors they can't compete on that route

Apx 8 to 9 Hours......
2 :
If you take a nonstop flight -- which you can do with Northwest Airlines or KLM -- your flying time from Amsterdam to Detroit will be about 8 hours and 45 minutes. If you take a flight that stops somewhere -- and you'll have a greater range of airlines to choose from if you do, since United, Air France, Lufthansa, British Airways, Delta, Continental, and U.S. Air to name but a few all make this journey -- you're obviously looking at a longer flight. It'll be somewhere in the environment of 12 or 13 hours, with the most popular places to make a stop being Frankfurt, Washington D.C., or Chicago. The shortest stopover flight is the one run by Air France that requires you to change planes in Paris. That takes 11 hours and 5 minutes. Hope this helps -- have a safe flight!

Eight hours eastwards to Schipol and 9 hours on the way back to Detroit.

depends what air company flies you! Don't be afraid!! You will get food enough and drink too! I know the domestic hospitality is under the bug ass. They wanted to charge me for $7 for a cup of coke on the way from Atlanta to NYC. They are horrible!!!!!!
2 :
I you are flying over a few ours then you should a meal or two (depending on length of flight). Put it like this, when you get on th eplane set your watchto the time of your destination. Then whenever it's lunchtime or dinner time you should be served a meal. Drinks are available with the meal, and they shuold also offer drinks inbetween meals. I've only flew UK to US, 7 hours, and gotten a meal within an hour of taking off and then another about an hour before landing (depending on th eairline, sometimes a snack too!) We get a drink with the meals. Some airlines will charge you for alcoholic drinks, some arilines will charge you for every drink that is not with a meal.
3 :
The food on Northwest is nasty. If you are going to the Phils, fly Asiana
4 :
When you fly long-haul international it's a different ball game, forget US domestic. As said, it will vary a bit between airlines but most follow the following schema: 1. Drink round about 30-60 min after take off 2. Meal service 3. Another drink run 4. Meal service 1-2 hours before arriving Most airlines do not charge for drinks meals, it's included in the ticket price. You do not mention which airline you're flying with. Check their web page for service details. Also check out http://www.flyertalk.com and its forum, lots of frequent flyers from all over the world discussing everything airline related.

Long enough for what. The airport isn't that big and your luggage is transfered automaticly.
2 :
Probably. It's impossible to predict weather delays and air traffic delays, so nothing is guaranteed. I once gave myself a 2 1/2 hour connection and nearly missed it because bad weather had backed up the flights so badly. However, 63 minutes is generally enough assuming that you don't need to change terminals. Since you didn't mention which city you connect in or which airline, no one can tell you that.
3 :
Most likely.......just head right for the gate......Denver isn't that big......
4 :
Plenty of time. I have had much worse.
5 :
The layover is a reasonable amount of time. Alot better than worse compared to my layover in Atlanta from Tampa to Baltimore which was only 10 minutes due to inclement weather in Atlanta back in March. It should give you enough time if the flight leaves and arrives on time to get something to eat and lounge around near the gate.
6 :
Yes, that's plenty of time. Of course that's assuming your flight coming in isn't delayed significantly but there's no way to predict that for sure. But an hour is plenty of time to connect in Denver.
