when are you traveling? check this website http://www.LouMarTravel.com if there is one it will be on this site.
2 :
Unfortunately not, but the following airlines will do it with one stop: United British Midland Continental Airlines British Airways Northwest Airlines KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Lufthansa Delta Air Lines US Airways American Airlines Air France
3 :
No, although Glasgow Prestwick is an international airport, there are no direct flights from Detroit. They all have one stop. Going on Northwest, you will have to connect in Amsterdam. You could try departing out of Toronto (Pearson International) or flying into Manchester. In fact, Detroit to Manchester (UK) is about $150 less than the other options. There are regional buses and trains that would get you up to Scotland. It's a beautiful place!

No for the most part there are no international flights that originate from Detroit without any layovers with the exception of a trip to Canada which honestly is easier to drive to. Go to the metro detroit airport website for more information on what your best options would be or consult a travel agent i hope this helps

I guess you mean the barometric pressure? This has nothing to do with the min/max flight levels. The altimeter must be adjusted to the local pressure. This is information that the airplane receives from flight control. If the altimeter isn't calibrated it will show a wrong altitude. This is exactly what you can experience if you have a watch with built-in altitude meter. It must be calibrated every time you use it (set a reference altitude).
2 :
FL 180 will still be the minimum flight level in effect. FL 600 will always be the maximum no matter what. Even though the table that you're thinking of in the AIM will state that the lowest flight level will be 190, you'll still transition at FL180. ATC will probably give you a minimum of FL 200 for Boston to Detroit. In real life, it doesn't work that way. You can get FL180 if you want.

I don't understand the question. I suppose the minimum would have to be 1,000 feet above persons and property as per FAR's, after that, you can drag the damn gear through the corn if you want. You can fly as high as you want, over 60,000 feet the FAA allows you to go on your own, at that altitude or above, they don't intervene.

How is Detroit's airport

How is Detroit's airport?
I want to fly my mom from Illinois out to California and the connecting flight is in Detroit. I've heard a lot of negative things about Detroit but never actually been there. Would she be safe there for that short time? Is the airport clean? I would really appreciate feedback from anyone who has actually been there before! Thanks in advance!! =)

Every airport is safe, with the exception of third-world nations. The negativity you hear about Detroit, is unfortunately the city. Detroit-Wayne is antiseptically clean.
2 :
very nice airport especially you take Northwest( now delta) terminal, big with a lot good shopping and restaurants, easy to connect every terminal though train in 3 min , very safe too.
3 :
The airport is nice. It's about 30 miles outside of the city, so you shouldn't have to worry about any gang activity.

If it's just a connecting flight then your mom is fine. Detroit's airport is one of the best; clean, well laid out, good access, and a lot of helpful security. And it is about 10-15 miles from the bad part of town. It's one of the few airports I enjoy.

Hi, I can assure you security is tight at Detroit Metro and your mom will be safe. There are alot of negative steriotypes about Detroit but the airport itself features two new modern and very well cleaned facilitys. In fact the new North terminal is rated as one of the cleanest airport terminals in the world. It isn't at all like the old Smith terminal that was infamous for being grimey, conjested and a nightmare. Fear not DTW is actually now my favorite place that I fly.
